Description

GREEN BASIL BROADLEAF An early (35 to 45 days) open-pollinated variety. The compact plant grows 12 to 18" tall. Large, fragrant, and dark green leaves. Planting instructions: For rapid germination, it is necessary to warm the basil seeds to 100 ? for 3 hours. After warming up the seeds must be saturated with moisture. Take cotton pads or a piece of gauze, put the warmed seeds there, tie with a thread. Pour warm water about 100 ?, place the grains there. Place in a warm place with a temperature (75-95 ?) for at least 20 hours up to 2 days. At the same time, water is changed every 12 hours. After 30-60 minutes, the seeds will be covered with mucus, this is the process of dissolving the essential oils. Gently rinse a bag of gauze or a cotton pad in water to rinse off the mucus. Dry slightly. Basil should be grown in a place that gets sunshine at least six to eight hours per day. The soil should be well-drained with a pH of 6-7.5. Basically, the best time to plant basil seeds is in the spring. Just sow basil plant seeds evenly by covering them with about ¼-inch of soil. Keep the soil moist. The growing basil seeds should germinate within a week. The seedling can be recognized by D-shaped seed leaves that will have flat sides facing each other. Once you see a few more pairs of leaves, you should thin the basil plants to be about 6 to 12 inches apart. To be successful in planting basil seeds inside, it can be done about six to eight weeks before you would normally plant them outside so you can get a good head start on the basil plant growing season. You might want to do this if you are growing basil seeds like “Purple”, which is a slow-growing variety.
